STUDIO INSTRUCTOR TRAINING INCLUDES:

MOVEMENT PRINCIPLES: Movement Principles is the pre-requisite for any Balanced Body training. This module provides a solid foundation for training in any environment, with any equipment. These simple movements and pre-Pilates exercises are built upon in all other Balanced Body modules. A focus on understanding common movement patterns prepares instructors to be excellent at problem solving, goal setting and learning new exercise techniques with ease. 

Trapeze Table/Cadillac (18 hours)

The Trapeze Table provides a range of exercises from beginner to super advanced and the details needed to safely and correctly set up the equipment to support or challenge. 

Time is spent breaking down more complex exercises into digestible movements that are useful for a diverse clientele taking them through a combination of Movement Principles.

Wunda Chair (14 hours)

The Pilates chair is perfect for challenging your more athletic clients as well as accommodating during pregnancy. There is a strong focus on upper body exercises and spinal mobility . 

Repertoire covered includes original Pilates exercises on the Combo Chair plus variations on the EXO chair with single or split pedal options.

Barrels (6 hours)

This module includes exercises and variations for the Step Barrel, Pilates Arc and Ladder Barrel, all are excellent tools for enhancing your clients spinal mobility. 

Students will also take the Pilates Arc onto the Reformer to understand how these two apparatus can be combined for additional support or challenge in group classes and private sessions.

Reformer 1 (16 hours)

Reformer 1 introduces the Reformer and includes a variety of supine, seated and standing exercises for the beginner to intermediate client that build upon concepts learned in Movement Principles. Reformer 1 includes guidelines for training clients with Osteoporosis or during pregnancy and post birth.

Reformer 2 (16 hours)

Reformer 2 expands the potential of the Reformer with intermediate and advanced repertoire in a range of orientations.

Included are modifications and precautions, along with program designs, for special populations and lots of hands on teaching experience.

Reformer 3 (16 hours)

Reformer 3 is the pinnacle of the Reformer work and includes advanced and super advanced exercises. 

Reformer 3 focusses on exercise sequencing and builds an understanding of how to break down more complex movements to make them more achievable..

Mat 1 (16 hours)

Mat 1 includes an introduction to the history and principles of the Pilates method and the beginning and intermediate level exercises.

Each exercise includes guidance on modifications, progressions, exercise purpose and precautions for injuries and special populations.

Mat 1 also explores guidelines for teaching clients who are pregnant, postnatal and those with Osteoporosis.

Mat 2 (16 hours)

Mat 2 teaches the remaining intermediate and advanced level Mat exercises for a complete understanding of the Pilates Mat program.

Lectures include progressive skill development to achieve the advanced exercises and suggestions for creating successful Mat classes.

In Mat 2 there is a strong focus on taking verbal and hands on cueing to the next level.

Mat 3 (16 hours)

Mat 3 can be taken for continuing education credits or simply to add infinite variety to your current Mat programming. 

Mat 3 completes the mat training by adding rings, rollers, bands and balls to the traditional Mat exercises learnt in Mat 1 and Mat2. 

In addition, it includes functional exercises for the upper and lower body expanding the Mat work beyond the core to develop whole body strength and flexibility.

No problem! All Balanced Body courses are module based, so  you can join us for a single module. 

This is the perfect format for continued education for those who are already qualified, or a nice way to dip your toes in before committing to a full course if you’re considering a career change. 

If you have studied with a different education provider, this is a great way for you to get a feel for how Balanced Body works.

Single modules are $900 each for two days of face to face training, except Barrels which is $595

Comprehensive Pilates Studio training gives you the skills needed to work in any Pilates environment, whether it is a rehabilitation clinic or boutique studio offering private and semi-private sessions.

Training starts with Movement Principles, this two day prerequisite serves as a solid basis for any Balanced Body teacher training program, it covers pre-pilates exercises, how the body moves, how to assess it and how to train it, building practical skills that are built on in every other Balanced body training module.

Each module teaches equipment safety, exercise progressions, and programming for a range of clientele of varying abilities. Students learn how to set up and adjust the equipment as well as develop meaningful tactile and verbal skills that will make them the best instructors around. 

Comprehensive Studio training also includes lectures on understanding conditions and programming for Osteoporosis, Low Back Pain, Pregnancy, and Postnatal clients.

Our complete Studio Instructor Training course provides instructors with the skills and expertise they need to teach and adapt Pilates exercises across multiple apparatus, tailoring them to clients with varying needs, goals and fitness levels.

Trapeze Table / Cadillac (18 hours)

This module is the biggest of all the Balanced Body training modules; it focuses on learning the Trapeze Table/ Cadillac exercises from beginner to super advanced, with a huge variety of complex and multi-planar movements. The emphasis is on the safe and proper use of the equipment to either support or challenge clients. Training includes an in-depth understanding of progressions and regressions that successfully work your clients towards mastering the more complex movements. 

Wunda Chair (14 Hours)

Wunda Chair repertoire offers a variety of upper body and whole body integrations that will challenge even the most seasoned Pilates client. With a focus on spinal mobility and getting your client out of the sagittal plane, the repertoire covered includes the Combo Chair and EXO chair, using both single and split pedals.

Barrels (6 Hours)

Students will learn repertoire on the Step Barrel, Pilates Arc, and Ladder Barrel that focus on improving spinal mobility and increasing abdominal strength. It also discusses combining the Pilates Arc and the Reformer for added support or challenge, which is appropriate in both group and private sessions.

Reformer 1 (16 Hours)

Reformer 1 includes foundational exercises for beginners to intermediate clients, it applies our Movement Principles and looks and basic level programming including a range of supine, sitting, and standing exercises. In this module we also start to learn guidelines for working with clients with Osteoporosis and those who are pregnant or postnatal. 

Reformer 2 (16 Hours)

Expanding on Reformer 1, Reformer 2 covers intermediate and advanced exercises that move the body through a variety of more complex movements. Repertoire regressions and modifications are also discussed including precautions for specific pollations. There is a strong focus on building meaningful tactile and verbal cues in this module.

Reformer 3 (16 Hours)

Reformer 3 is the pinnacle of Reformer training, featuring advanced and super-advanced repertoire. The emphasis is on exercise sequencing and breaking down complex movements into digestible pieces for your clients to work on and achieve, culminating in thorough comprehension of Reformer work and program sequencing.

Mat 1 (16 Hours)

Mat 1 introduces the history and concepts of Pilates, including introductory to intermediate level repertoire. Each exercise includes modifications, progressions and regressions that are suitable for a variety of clientele. Again we look at adapting these exercises to suit pregnant, postpartum, and osteoporotic clients.

Mat 2 (16 Hours)

Building on Mat 1, Mat 2 addresses the remaining intermediate to super advanced Mat exercises. Practical hands-on teaching components further build the skills needed to succeed as a Pilates instructor, with an emphasis on developing advanced verbal and hands-on cueing techniques.

Mat 3 (16 Hours)

Mat 3 provides students with a variety of small apparatus variations that will challenge your client’s strength and stability. We apply the ball, resistance band, foam roller and magic circle to all the exercises previously learnt, giving new muscular focus and whole body integration to the world of Mat Pilates.

Progressive certification: Each face-to-face module includes practical teaching assessments and a written module test. After successful completion of both the practical teaching and written segments, a certificate of completion is granted after each module. A final Balanced Body Reformer certification is granted once all modules are complete and the final test out has been passed.
